Fall 2008
Shalimar Productions
The Immigration Play (Working Title) by Nastaran Ahmadi | Directed by Shoshona Currier | Created by the company | To be presented Fall 2008...
In the fall of 2007 The Shalimar gathered a group of highly collaborative actors with Iranian-American playwright Nastaran Ahmadi to conduct interviews, gather research, watch movies, write songs, and generate work that will become a theater piece dealing with questions about the borders we are forced to live with.
With immigration as a jumping off point, we are exploring globalization, and ultimately asking the question, what makes a certain country home? The Immigration Play will twist and bend the theatrical form, telling a story that makes the political deeply personal, not only for the artists involved, but for anyone struggling with the country of their birth.
Six Seeds: The Persephone Project

Six Seeds... is an exploration of the myth of Persephone, its roots and its relevance to contemporary girlhood and womanhood. It is simultaneously a contemporary retelling of the myth of Persephone, an exploration of the origins of the myth and a consideration if how this myth continues to inform the feminine collective unconscious, perpetuating itself from antiquity to present day.
